Extending your property with a stylish orangery or garden room can be simple and straight forward as generally no planning permission is needed.

How often have you seen a beautiful orangery lit up at night and not been envious of the stylish extra living space?

An orangery can give you a luxurious dining room in which to entertain by candlelight, an airy garden room in the daytime, a useful working study, or if you have little ones around the house, the additional space can become a bright and buzzing playroom.

Many people think of orangeries as a more substantial version of the traditional conservatory – and they would be right. There is more brickwork showing in an orangery so it seems more solid and room-like, while natural daylight still floods in from the self-cleaning solar controlled glazed roof and windows.

But, what many people don’t realise is that generally they don’t need planning permission or any special building regulations to extend in this way.
While orangeries have become synonymous with luxury country homes, the latest contemporary bespoke designs are just as at home in the suburbs as they are in the country.

At Clearview Home Improvements they have really caught on to the orangery phenomenon – appreciating exactly why people aspire to this extra living space.
With many years experience, the team at Clearview has devised some fabulous showroom displays for you to see exactly what can be achieved.

Half the wall area of an orangery can be in brickwork and what’s more, interiors can be designed with unique internal lighting pelmets for soft low voltage down-lighters which can be used in the evening to give a glowing, cosy atmosphere.

More affordable than a traditional extension, an orangery or conservatory can be a versatile and stylish living area and they tend to become the main feature of a home!
Clearview which showcases a whole range of orangeries and conservatories at their three outlets in Preston, Holmes Chapel and Warrington, also has state-of-the-art technology and innovations to offer customers.

One of the latest is coloured windows – sage green is a popular option giving the effect of a traditional orangery painted in the latest heritage colours – ideal for a home with a history, yet still maintenance free! This facility is also ideal when matching up colours to seamlessly blend with existing adjoining buildings.

And there is a range of new designs to see at the showrooms, including a contemporary atrium design – putting a modern twist into what is normally a traditional style roof.

While the team at Clearview Home Improvements has extensive experience in the conservatory business, orangeries now account for over half their trade – they will design and build and they also guarantee all work carried out under their customer charter.

As managing director John Beaty explains: “We stick to the building schedule religiously and keep customers informed every step of the way.”

Employing a team of around 60, Clearview has ensured all its sales executive are CAD (Computer Aided Design) trained, to enable them to show prospective customers exactly what their orangery or conservatory will look like.

Customer service is paramount at Clearview which has developed an interior design facility giving customers various options when their conservatory or orangery is built.

You can choose from a range of tiles, laminate flooring and lighting and the team can also advise on electrical wiring to accommodate flatscreen TVs and entertainment centres. Heating options can also be discussed along with various door and window options to ensure all-year round comfort.

No matter what style of property you have, be it traditional or contemporary, the team at Clearview will advise you on the best conservatory or orangery to suit your needs.

They are also able to supply other products – these include A-rated windows, aluminium bi-folding doors, modern composite doors and if you have a traditional property, they can supply sliding sash pvc windows.

So if you want to be inspired visit one of Clearview’s excellent showrooms and meet the team at Preston, Holmes Chapel or Warrington – or if you prefer freephone 0800 011 2400 and arrange for their experience designers to visit you and your home.

Make Your Home As Good As New With New Windows

Any new home being constructed nowadays must come fully installed with double glazed windows according to building regulations. The reason why is because single paned windows are no longer considered of a good enough quality to provide security, protection from weather and heat insulation as their modern double glazed equivalents. So if you have an old fashioned property then you will almost certainly need to get your windows replaced, the sooner the better.

Around about 25 per cent of heat generated in the home is lost through singled paned windows, a huge amount when you think about it. Utility bills are consistently on an upward spiral meaning that the more you rely on your central heating, the more likely it is that you will receive a nasty surprise when the dreaded quarterly heating bill arrives through your letterbox.

Double glazing in Preston is much harder to smash than single glazed windows and single glazing has a tendency to break into shards of glass, which is extremely dangerous when you have to undertake a clean up operation. Because of the hardness of double glazing it makes it difficult for anyone to try and break or force their way into a home through the windows, so they can add as an extra security measure in addition to your doors.

Your existing windows in Cheshire may no longer be in as good a condition as when they were first installed as most old homes have wooden timber framed windows. You will have noticed that over time the paintwork on them starts to peel away and flake and you find yourself having to climb the ladder every so often to give them a new coat of paint. Replacement uPVC windows are low maintenance and can make painting a thing of the past.

Even the most period of homes can be given a modernistic of touches with the installation of conservatories in Warrington, so do not let your home get stuck in the past, bring it up to date with a touch of the future.

Claiming to be the North West’s most successful conservatory retailer, Conservatory Outlet dealer Clearview Home Improvements has added a third showroom as part of its strategy to boost sales this year by 25%.

Ideally located on a new Warrington retail park adjacent to other home improvement retailers and major retail brands from all sectors, the new Clearview showroom is the result of a £150,000 investment to create what is believed by Conservatory Outlet to be ‘the best retail conservatory showroom in the North of England and probably the UK’.

The showroom contains 8 fully featured conservatories in a range of styles, including a number of orangeries constructed using traditional brick and others using the latest modular components. A range of colours also illustrates the options open to customers, with bi-fold doors bound to provide an attraction to visitors. Every conservatory is fully furnished in a range of styles, designed throughout by a professional interior designer.

Clearview, which was formed just two years ago and a member of the Conservatory Outlet network from day one, has leapt to become the region’s leading retailer installing 60 conservatories a month with a sales value of £7.5 million last year through its existing branches in Preston, Lancashire and Holmes Chapel, Cheshire. The Warrington branch is confidently expected to boost the company’s sales by £2.5 million in its first year.

“Clearview Home Improvements fully embrace the ideals and professionalism that we aspire to at Conservatory Outlet,” commented Matthew Glover, the company’s managing director. “It is a superb operation that significantly builds upon the marketing support that we provide by creating its own television and other regional advertising; the rapid growth enjoyed by Clearview is the result of total professionalism.”

Clearview sales director Chris Mitchell believes that the marketing might of being a part of the Conservatory Outlet network has been a keystone in the success of the company: “Between us the directors of Clearview have more than 40 years in the business. But the superb marketing support, including television advertising and the industry’s best internet advertising & marketing team, has helped us become the region’s number one retailer in just two years.”

In Europe conservatories have been popular since the early 18th century. The basic idea behind a conservatory is that is it a building constructed mainly of glass giving a light and airy feel with fantastic view of the garden and landscape beyond. Originally conservatories were used as a place to house exotic plants which would not survive outside in the harsh north European climate. However modern conservatories are used a variety of purposes and are seen as been additional living space.

In countries with warmer climates often they have verandas on their houses which are used as a place to relax and enjoy the surrounding landscape. However as verandas are open to the elements they would be of little for much of the year here in the UK. Unlike conservatories verandas often stretch around the entire house whereas conservatories are usually a room like structure which protrudes from the back of a property. Also verandas differ from conservatories as they have solid roofs which are designed to give shade and keep the house cool in the heat of the day. Conservatories on the other hand have glazed roofs which are designed to allow the maximum amount of natural light into the space below.

In the UK we are well known for our climate and wind, rain and snow are not uncommon. The beauty of a conservatory is that it allows you to enjoy your garden and the landscape beyond no matter what the weather is like outside.

Over the last twenty years we have seen a revolution in conservatory design. Originally conservatories were constructed of an iron frame and single glazed glass. This meant they were very expensive to heat and required a large amount of maintenance to prevent them from rotting. However thanks to the inventions of double glazing and uPVC modern conservatories are far better insulated making them far cheaper to heat and are very low maintenance.

Conservatories are not more popular than they have ever been. They make a fantastic addition to any home and make your home a great place to live. As they add extra living space to a property they have even been found to add value to a property.

Since the invention of uPVC and double glazing conservatories have become a very popular way of adding extra living space to your home. Due to their popularity there are now more styles and designs to choose from than ever. When adding a conservatory to your home it is important that you choose a style that complement s your home and is suitable for what you intend to use the conservatory for. Below are some of the most popular styles of conservatory currently on the market.

Probably the most popular style of conservatory is the Victorian conservatory. They are highly versatile and are suitable for a variety of properties. They have a pitched roof giving them an airy feel and have angled windows at the front creating a bay window effect.

Edwardian or Georgian conservatories are similar in style to Victorian conservatories however they do not have the bay window. These are popular as they use the maximum amount of floor space available making them as big as possible.

Lean to or Mediterranean conservatories are one of the cheapest styles of conservatory. They have a shallow sloping roof meaning they can be used on properties where there are height restrictions such as bungalows. They are also one of the easiest styles of conservatory to construct and are highly versatile.

L shaped, T shaped, P shaped and B shaped conservatories. These conservatories have a floor shape which represents the letter they are named after. They are usually large conservatories and due to their shape can easily be divided into areas allowing them to be used for several purposes at one time.
