The proposed Green Deal which offers UK homeowners the opportunity to install energy efficient measures at no upfront cost has been floating around for several years now. As late as last week, the first providers of the Green Deal were announced, seemingly bringing the scheme closer to reality ahead of its launch in October.
However, The Daily Telegraph has reported that the entire scheme could be under serious threat as senior Tory ministers including the Chancellor, George Osborne, and housing minister, Grant Shapps believe that it risks leaving key “squeezed middle” voters out of pocket by several thousands of pounds.
If the rumours are true that it could be scrapped it would be a serious slap in the face for the Liberal Democrats and would leave on egg on the face of Prime Minister, David Cameron, who upon entering office in 2009 pledged that his government would be the ‘greenest government ever’.
Developments over the coming weeks will be very interesting indeed to say the least, but whatever happens Clearview Home Improvements will remain on hand to supply, fit and install all your essential energy efficient products.
