We’ve had the horrible winter weather, and now we can begin to survey the damage caused by freezing temperatures. You may not want to venture outside in the cold right now, but hard work in these final cold months will pay off come summer when you can relax in your perfect garden.
Your garden will have put up with a lot the last few months, it’s time to give it some much needed attention. Instead of throwing your Christmas tree away, recycle it this year to get mulch.
Mulch will help to prevent the spread of weeds and keep your soil moist so your plants require less water. Mulch will also prevent any further cold weather damaging your plants, it has been described as a blanket for your plants. Doing this now will not only put your Christmas tree to good use, it will make your life easier in summer.
While the ground might be unworkable in some places, this isn’t going to stop weeds from growing. Remove weeds from your garden wherever possible, this will prevent them from taking over your garden when the warm weather sets in.
To instantly make your garden look well tended, clear any moss from pathways and rake any leaves scattered around your garden. This simple job will make it look like you’ve spent hours working on your garden, when in reality you were only out there for 10 minutes.
By taking the effort to tend to your garden now, you’ll be prepared from the summer months. This means less time gardening and more time hosting barbecues and relaxing in the conservatory enjoying the sunshine.
